Swine flu and its illusive nature

I sit here well and perfectly healthy which is a sickening feeling.

This weekend was going to be the weekend I got swine flu. I had pencilled it in to my diary, which was looking enticingly empty. There were no holidays, no weddings and no music festivals, nothing major to look forward to and the sort of weekend that would be perfect for excusing myself, cocooned in the house for a couple of days.

The joys of air travel

I have just returned from a business trip which involved flying to Scotland and back on consecutive days. Travelling to catch a flight can sometimes be stressful and it is never easy knowing how much time to allow, particularly when using public transport in rush hour. I decided that an hour and a half to get across London would be more than enough. I was wrong.

Remembering the things ‘Dubya’ never said or did

It’s been nearly six months since Barack Obama was sworn in as president (albeit at the second attempt, due to mistakes made in the original ceremony). It has therefore also been six months since the demise of Bush junior as leader. The world is no safer without him, but it perhaps feels like it is.
